A YouTube quarterback, Colin Cowherd sensationally labels Justin Fields a BUST for his
Justin Fields, who is entering his third year in the league as the Chicago Bears quarterback, is looking to solidify himself as a top quarterback in the league. The Bears QB showed some promising flashes in the 2022 season, which impressed many people, but the Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd isn’t on the Fields hype train.
Speaking in a recent episode of the Fox Sports show The Herd, the renowned NFL analyst said that Justin Fields has the highest pressure to succeed in the upcoming season. He cited Fields’ 5-20 win-loss record as a reason why he considers the Bears QB as a bust.
“Right now, he’s a YouTube quarterback. His highlights are great. 79 passer rating, five and 20. Not saying I’m bailing. Still think it’s 55-45 he’s gonna succeed. Drip, drip, drip, drip,” said Cowherd. “For a quarterback that’s 5-20 and right now is closer to a bust than a star.”
Furthermore, Colin Cowherd also noted his previous hot takes that came true in the cases of Baker Mayfield and the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston.
“Said it for three years on Baker (Mayfield). You argued every time. I said it for a year on (Johnny) Manziel. He said it for several years on Jamies (Winston). Drip, drip, everything counts,” said Cowherd.
As Colin mentioned, the Bears QB has a lot of highlight reels to his name, but the numbers aren’t there. Fields became only third QB to register a 1000+ rushing yards season, but when it comes to the passing game Fields still has to improve a lot. But can he be labeled a bust already?
Justin Fields can’t be considered a bust yet
The Bears’ former first-round pick Justin Fields has impressed a lot of people during his first two years in Chicago. He is yet to register a solid season when it comes to statistics, but he could do it in the upcoming season.
Fields played in one of the worst teams in the league. Now, in the 2023 season, the talented quarterback will have a true number 1 receiver D. J. Moore to help him get better in the passing game.
The Bears also added a first-round offensive tackle prospect to their squad in the 2023 draft. So with an improved offensive unit, Fields, who already has registered himself as one of the best running quarterbacks in the league, could have a breakout season like the Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts just had in the 2022 season.
