Boise School District Limits Social Media on Student Devices
BOISE, Idaho — Boise School District Administration is putting limitations on certain electronic devices. They have implemented these guidelines to ensure that students remain focused on their academic journey. Effective immediately, district-provided student devices, such as Chromebooks, will allow access to only two social media platforms: YouTube and LinkedIn.
The administration selected these platforms because it believes they offer substantial educational content and professional networking opportunities that can aid in students' learning and career development.
The BSDA lists several advantages to limiting social media, including enhancing students' emotional and digital well-being, promoting a focus on education and productive uses of technology, and creating a safe online environment. In addition, individual schools may be limiting student use of cell phones altogether during the school day.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your school.
