Griffin Gluck is an American actor. He is known for his roles in the films Just Go with It, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, Why Him?, The Boxcar Children: Surprise Island, in a voice performance; Big Time Adolescence, Tall Girl, and its sequel; Dinner in America, and North Hollywood, and on the series Private Practice, Red Band Society, The Real Bros of Simi Valley, American Vandal, Locke & Key, and Cruel Summer.

He is the son of Karin Beck, a line producer and production assistant, and Cellin Gluck, a director and producer. Griffin’s father was born in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, to American-born parents, and was raised partly in Kobe, Japan; Griffin’s paternal grandmother was of Japanese origin, and Griffin’s paternal grandfather, who was raised Jewish, was of Ashkenazi Jewish and British Isles [English, Scottish] descent. Griffin’s mother has German, Polish, Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry.

Griffin’s paternal grandfather was Jay Gluck (Jay Fred Gluck, the son of Harry Fitzer Gluck and Lillian Campbell-Phillips). Griffin’s grandfather Jay was born in Michigan, and was a prominent archaeologist and historian of Persian art. He was also a Japanophile, someone with a strong interest in Japan and Japanese culture. Griffin’s great-grandfather Harry was the son of Jewish emigrants from Austria, Ruben/Reuben Gluck and Clara Sperling. Griffin’s great-grandmother Lillian was born in England, the daughter of Roberto Fryer Phillips and Margaret Jane Campbell, and had English and Scottish ancestry. Griffin’s father has said that Lillian converted to Judaism upon marrying Griffin’s great-grandfather. Griffin’s grandfather was raised Jewish and described his own religion as “Jew by temper; Buddhist inclination.”

Griffin’s paternal grandmother was Sumiye/Sumi Hiramoto (the daughter of Jitsuro Hiramoto and Takayo Tamura). Sumi was a Nisei (second-generation Japanese). She was born in California, to Japanese parents. Griffin’s grandmother was interned at the Rohwer War Relocation Center during World War II, because of her Japanese ancestry. Griffin’s great-grandfather Jitsuro was the son of Risuke Hiramoto and Hamayo Oda.

Griffin’s maternal grandfather is Robert Walter Beck (the son of Walter George Beck and Geneveive DeEtta Metcalf). Griffin’s grandfather Robert was born in Nebraska. Griffin’s great-grandfather Walter was an ethnic German, from Russia, the son of George Beck and Elizabeth Wertz. Geneveive was of British Isles ancestry, the daughter of Wilbur Clark Metcalf and Mabelle Etta Cornish.

Griffin’s maternal grandmother is Patricia Wynne Cummings (the daughter of John Patrick Cummings and Blanche Constance Krywicki). Patricia was born in New York. John was the son of Thomas Joseph Cummings, whose parents were Irish, and of Mary E. Wynne, who was born in Scotland, to Irish parents. Blanche was born in Pennsylvania, to Polish parents, Maike/Michael Krzwicki/Krywicki and Mary M. Woscavits.
