John Cena has established himself in the wrestling business as well as Hollywood, where he is currently succeeding. Being the company’s face for more than ten years, he has established a legendary career in the WWE. Throughout his tenure, he has also won the WWE Championship a record sixteen times.

In 2021, John Cena appeared in a number of blockbuster films, but his film career did not begin with one of those films; rather, it began with WWE’s production of The Marine. Despite having a 15 million dollar budget, the movie only made 22 million dollars.

The movie’s original plans were something else, Bruce Prichard recently revealed during an interview on Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. John Cena was never supposed to star in the film because it was intended to be an R-rated film and Cena was a product of the PG era.

The person who was going to star in the movie was Stone Cold Steve Austin as he was a rather R-rated superstar in the WWE who can do this kind of stuff. Bruce said, “It was [The Marine was written for Stone Cold Steve Austin]. Well, yeah, but see, I think part of the problem was that the Condemned rating was ‘R.’ And so, it alienated a lot of our audience at that point.”

John Cena did a lot of R-rated movies in the future

The action in the film was spot on, making John Cena appear more tough and dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined. The Marine showed us all a new side of Cena by allowing us to witness what it would be like to see a heel Cena.

Even though John Cena was not the best option, he was the right one. This decision helped Cena advance in his Hollywood career because he went on to star in many more action films, with Fast and Furious 9 being one of the largest.

Since last year’s Summerslam, Cena has not competed for the WWE since losing a crucial bout to Roman Reigns, who is currently the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion but at that time Roman was holding the WWE Universal Championship only.
