Rob Pitts Rabbit Netflix Star and Used Car Legends Death from Cancer Sparks Tributes
Rob Pitts aka Rabbit has died after losing a tough battle with stomach cancer. He was 45.
Pitts’ death was revealed by his videographer Jeff in a post on social media.
He wrote: “Hey everyone, this is Jeff (Rob’s Videographer). I am with him now in Hospice. He just passed at 21:45 on 08/25/2024. He will be missed and we will never forget him!”
The news of the death of Robb Pitts Rabbit completely stunned friends and colleagues in the automotive industry as well as his legions of fans across the world.
Many tributes and stories about his legend were shared on social media in honor of his passing.
One person reminisced on how great of a person Pitts was, especially in his ability to sit with anyone and simply chat and make them laugh their lungs out.
“I can’t begin to tell you how amazing of a person Rob Pitts was. He would sit down in a hotel lobby and tell the most amazing stories and make you forget that you had anywhere to go. He would make you laugh until your sides hurt and you couldn’t breathe. He was giving and compassionate and genuine. He was larger than life. He would go out of his way to make you feel seen and heard,” the tribute read.
Another tribute from Ryan Wright described him as a local legend turned national icon. “I first met him during the old misperception car meets. And fast forward years and years later, he took time out of his busy a** schedule to come to the shop for the better part of a day and shoot a podcast with me for my YouTube channel. Dude had the whole shop cracking up for hours…Was so awesome to see someone from around here work their way all the way up to a Netflix show,”
Who was Rob Pitts Rabbit?
Rob Pitts was the CEO of Pitts Truck Service, a third generation family business that started in 1968, which offers truck and trailer repair services.
He also ran the Rabbit’s Used Cars shop.

Pitts was known for his ‘love for automotives’ and for telling ‘enthralling stories in his deep gravelly voice’.
Rabbit started in the Netflix Series Tex Mex Motors where he brought his love for restoring classic cars to the broader public.
The show, which was quite successful, saw the restoration of cars such as a 69 Opel, a ’65 Volkswagen Bug, a ’63 Chevy Carryall, a vintage Bronco.
The show was shooting its second season when Pitts was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Tragically, despite putting up his hardest fight, Pitts did not survive this final battle.
