The Mid In Chicago To Shutter Next Year
CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) — Popular Chicago nightclub the MID announced that in the face of the city’s West Loop and Fulton Market District expansion, the venue planned to close its doors for good in early 2019.
“Unfortunately, the time has come where the MID’s doors will be closing on February 5, 2019. These last remaining months will be a celebration of the past and a toast to the future. We want to thank all the fans, artists, employees, agents, managers, and promoters who have supported us throughout this era,” club owners Lukas King and Nick Karounos said in a statement.
The club, located at 306 N Halsted, first opened in 2010 and has featured a raft of performers primarily from the worlds of EDM and hip-hop, such as Calvin Harris, Kaskade, and Adam Beyer, to Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, Laurent Garnier, and Ice Cube.
While the club may be closing, it will host a series of special events, leading up to a final show billed as “One Last Song.”
“As a token of our appreciation, we are putting together some very special events leading up to that “One Last Song.” It’s been an incredible run to say the least but now it’s time to turn the page as we raise our glasses to what will be the end of an era, and the beginning of our next chapter,” King and Karaunos added.
Upcoming performances at the doomed Mid include Lemonade & Brownies, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Booka Shade, Snakehips, Moonbots and a DJ set by Haden James.
