Three years after Caldwell triple homicide, relative and sheriff share new details

Three years ago, Mark Medley and his mother heard news that his niece and sister-in-law were killed. The suspect has still not been found.

“The sadness of the whole situation," Medley said. "It is now being replaced with frustration.”

His sister-in-law, Nadja was married to his brother Tom, who passed away in 2014. His niece, Payton, was kind and did very well in school.

Michael Bullinger, the suspect, is accused of killing Nadja, Payton, and Cheryl Baker, his wife at the time.

Nadja and Payton did not know Bullinger was married to another woman.

"I know for a fact that she absolutely, positively did not know about Cheryl," Medley said. "I know Nadia well enough that if she did know about Cheryl...she never would have gotten involved with Mike."

One day, after not hearing from them in months, Medley contacted the Canyon County Sheriff's office.

While looking for Payton and Nadja, they found that the three women were killed in the back of Bullinger's home.

“They noticed a very strong smell..they discovered a shallow grave in front of the shed," Medley said. "That’s where they found. Nadia, Payton, and Bullinger’s ex-wife.”

Many believe Bullinger is dead, but there is still no concrete evidence of that.

Sheriff Donahue of Canyon County said there's a possibility that he could be alive.

Most recently, his car was found in Jacksonhole, Wyoming.

“We still believe his last known whereabouts were in a national forest in Wyoming," Sheriff Donahue said. "But unfortunately, we can’t produce the body at this time.”

Sheriff Donahue says Canyon County is still as devoted to this case as he was three years ago. He says we can't forget this happened.

“We want to find justice or accountability for this family," Donahue said. "We want to close the book and it might take us some time, but we’re not going to give up.”

If you know anybody who might have more information on this case, whether locally or nationally, please contact the Canyon County Sheriff's office.
