Treasure Valley 14 year old headed to Norwegian National Championships
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2 News) — Victor Hurlburt is one step closer to reaching his dreams.
In July, he will compete in the Norwegian National Skateboard Championship.
Since he was seven years old, Victor has been skateboarding.
"We moved to Hawaii because my dad was in the military, and that's kind of the culture there. You know, skateboarding and surfing, so I just got kinda hooked on to it," Victor said.
It's taken a lot of hard work and dedication for Victor. Every day he practices at the Rhodes skate park.
"We've been coming here at 6 a.m., and I at least try and get an hour in a day at least," he said.
It's not always easy, but he's stuck with it, working on his skills and new tricks.
"There are some tricks that might be a little bit scary to try or a little bit harder to try, so honestly, you just gotta keep trying and trust the process," Victor said.
Victor is just 14 years old, and he's already setting records and winning competitions.
With his dual citizenship he has a shot at getting on the Norweigan Olympic team. He just has to finish strong next month in the championships.
"I love skateboarding, and I think that I've been working for it for a while. So, that would be really cool if I could get a spot on the team," he said.
Victor will competet on July 1st in Stavanger Norway at the Tasta skatepark.
